GLOUCESTER-ROCKPORT |
Sunday, 7/29/2007 |
|
Come with us today to one of our most popular destinations, the scenic Cape Ann area and the seaport towns of Gloucester and Rockport. The book and subsequent movie, The Perfect Storm, introduced the world to Cape Ann, Massachusetts and the seafaring heritage of this beautifully rugged coast and the hazards that local fishermen have faced for centuries. We’ll view the Fisherman’s Memorial, the famous Man at the Wheel with its poignant message “They that go down to the sea in ships” and then head for lunch - and what a lunch! It’s a full Lobster Bake with all the trimmings (chicken may be substituted) at the Gloucester House Restaurant on the harbor’s edge. After lunch, the charm of Rockport beckons and we’ll visit this unique little town and explore the many shops and artists’ studios here before heading home.
